«La Banda del Millón» is a famous criminal organization known for committing robberies and murders in the northern area of the Buenos Aires conurbation. The members of the gang are believed to have been involved in at least eight criminal incidents between October 2024 and March of this year. According to judicial findings, the criminals conduct prior intelligence work to gather information on their victims, investigate their social media profiles, and then rob the victims, mostly retirees. After marking the homes, the criminals would drive to the locations, scale the fence, and enter the premises, using violence as their primary method to steal money, jewelry, and valuables from the elderly. Knives and screwdrivers were some of the dangerous objects used by the attackers, who would threaten the victims with phrases like "Give me the money" and "I'll kill you." Several elderly people were murdered in a brutal manner: they were tied up and beaten without mercy. Following the case of María Susana Rodríguez Iturriaga, the 81-year-old retiree who was tied up, beaten, and murdered on Saturday, October 25, in her home in Acassuso, it was confirmed that the suspects have ties to the fearsome gang. Based on initial investigations, authorities confirmed that Ramiro Emiliano Julio, 20; Matías Tamurro, 26; Thiago Ponzo, 19; and Agustín Gómez, 20, are part of the organization that has committed these crimes on other occasions. In recent hours, more search warrants were issued, resulting in the capture of Miguel Ángel Viera, 47, while mobile phones, tools for forcing open doors, balaclavas, and gloves were seized at the scene. It was learned that Viera and his accomplices had written on the wall of the retiree's home, "In a rich people's neighborhood, no weapons, no grudges," a phrase that matches other crimes committed by the gang and became known after the Banco Río robbery in Acassuso in 2006.
